Crime Log: Sept. 22-28

Entry of the Week: Friday, Sept. 26 @ 2:32 – 3:05 a.m.

An intoxicated male student signing into a room in West Village F was reported. NUPD responded and spoke with the student who was conscious and alert. The underage student admitted to drinking and was referred to O.S.C.C.R. No medical transport was required. 30 minutes later another intoxicated male signing into a room in Speare Hall was reported.  NUPD responded and spoke to the student who was conscious but not alert. Boston EMS was notified and transported the underage student to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The RD was notified, and the student was referred to O.S.C.C.R.

Monday, Sept. 22 @  6:14 p.m.

A Vanguard  employee called the Northeastern University Police Department (NUPD) emergency line to report he had been struck in the face. Officers responded and found the employee had approached a group of 10 to 15 juveniles on bicycles, and one of them had punched him. The employee said that he had not sustained injuries, but the group rode on Columbus Avenue towards International Village (IV). Officers checked the surrounding area with no results. A report was filed.

Tuesday, Sept. 23 @ 7:18 a.m.

An officer reported stopping a suspect, who is not affiliated with the university, for attempting to steal from the Dunkin Donuts in Shillman Hall. The suspect had previously been cited for trespassing on campus, and a warning was issued.

Tuesday, Sept. 23 @ 10 a.m.

A staff member of the Wollaston’s Market in the Marino Center reported detaining a shoplifter.  The suspect was checked and found to have an open warrant from Westborough, Mass. The male, who is unaffiliated with Northeastern, was arrested by NUPD at 10 a.m. and transported to headquarters for booking.

Wednesday, Sept. 24 @ 7:02 p.m.

A student reported his iPhone 5S was stolen from the Marino Center between 5:30 and 6:10 p.m. the day of report.  An unknown male suspect asked for food and money from the victim and then left the area before the victim noticed the phone was missing from his table. A report was filed.

Friday, Sept. 26 @ 9:06 p.m.

A student reported leaving his flash drive, which contained his homework, on a desk in a locked Ell Hall classroom behind a locked door. The device was then stolen between 5 and 6 p.m. A report was filed.

Friday, Sept. 26 @ 9:37 p.m.

A RA reported a homophobic slur had been written on the wall near a room in Davenport B. Officers responded and determined that the room’s occupant was aware of the graffiti and unoffended. NUPD removed the graffiti and cleared without further incident. A report was filed.

Friday, Sept. 26 @ 6:59 p.m.

An officer observed a male coming out of the IV restroom area who may have also dropped a hypodermic needle on the ground in front of NUPD headquarters. The subject was identified as a party unaffiliated with the school, and he admitted to using Class A drugs. No drugs were confiscated, and officers issued a trespass warning to the subject who was then sent on his way. The needle was placed into the proper container and brought to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for disposal

Saturday, Sept. 27 @ 12:00 a.m.

NUPD officers witnessed an underage male attempting to hide a bottle of vodka in the bushes on Tremont Street. NUPD collected his information, sent the subject on his way and confiscated a 1.75 bottle of New Amsterdam vodka. A report was filed.

Saturday, Sept. 27 @ 9:10 p.m.

An officer reported that an NUPD vehicle’s rear window was smashed out after the officer returned from a foot patrol in The Fenway. The vehicle had been parked next to Melvin Hall and was taken out of service and placed in the Coventry Garage. A report was filed.

Sunday, Sept. 28 @ 12:21 a.m.

Operations heard a Boston Police area wide report of two potentially armed males suspects. The males had begun an altercation with two students outside of Saint Stephens Street brandishing the potential firearm. However, the students did not sustain any injuries. The suspects were last seen on bicycles by Saint Stephens Street headed towards Hemenway Street. Officers checked the area and report stopping two males unaffiliated with the University near 114 The Fenway. Boston Police Department (BPD) was on the scene, and all officers searched the area for the bicycles and handgun. Officers located the bikes chained to the stairs and the gun, found to be a BB gun, next to them. BPD placed both suspects under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and armed home invasion.
