Crime Log: Oct. 6-12

Monday, Oct. 6

4:33 p.m.
A Northeastern University (NU) student reported her red mountain bike was stolen from its locked position outside West Village A North between 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. A report was filed.

Tuesday, Oct. 7

6:09 a.m.
A cleaning employee reported an altercation with a male coworker took place in the basement of International Village. The altercation included verbal attacks and thrown items; no one was injured. A report was filed.

7:44 a.m.
An NU employee reported a male teenager looking at the bikes in the rack in front of Willis Hall. Officers responded and stopped the male, not affiliated with the university, in front of Kariotis Hall. Officers stated that he had no tools for theft and the subject was banned from all Northeastern property without further incident. A report was filed.

9:11 a.m.
A Northeastern University Police Department (NUPD) officer reported two males who appeared to be checking out bicycles chained to the racks at International Village who then walked into Ruggles station. Officers checked the area and noticed the two parties in the station. The subjects, not affiliated with Northeastern, were banned from all Northeastern property and sent on their way. A report was filed.

1:42 p.m.
A Northeastern student reported to NUPD that his laptop was stolen on Monday. The laptop was secure in his backpack while he took an exam in a room in Snell Library, he and noticed his computer missing Tuesday morning. A report was filed.

1:58 p.m.
A student reported to NUPD that on Monday at 5 p.m. he left his black iPhone on a table in the International Village dining hall and when he returned to retrieve it, the phone was missing. A report was filed.

Wednesday, Oct. 8

12:58 a.m.
A Northeastern student reported a bicycle taken from the bike racks outside Kennedy Hall between 12:58 a.m. and 1:28 a.m. A report was filed.

11:12 a.m.
A student reported to NUPD that his Massachusetts-registered vehicle was damaged while parked on the fourth floor of the Columbus Parking Garage between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday. A report was filed.

1:48 p.m.
A student reported to NUPD that his bicycle was stolen from the racks outside West Village A. His friend had borrowed the bicycle at the time and secured it to the rack overnight from Monday to Tuesday with a cable lock. A report was filed.

5:57 p.m.
A student reported to NUPD that his Silver Trek mountain bike, which he secured to the International Village North bike rack on Oct. 1, was stolen. A report was filed.

Thursday, Oct. 9

9:25 a.m.
An officer spoke with a juvenile not affiliated to the university, as he resembled a subject from a previous case and appeared to be hiding his face. The male suspect was checked against two prior cases during which he was banned from NU campus. The suspect informed the officer that he had skipped class at O’Bryant High School. Police left a message for the juvenile’s parents and contacted the high school and school police as well. At 12:15 p.m., two officers transported the suspect to juvenile probation at the Boston Municipal Court House. A report was filed.

2:23 p.m.
An officer noticed illegible graffiti on the Marbury Terrace warehouse (street side). A work order was placed and a report was filed.

5:12 p.m.
A Northeastern student reported his backpack was stolen from a room in Richards Hall after it was left unattended overnight. The backpack contained an iPad, money, a passport and credit cards. A report was filed.

10:16 p.m.
A Resident Assistant (RA) in 780 Columbus Ave. reported that during room checks two students were found to have more alcohol in their possession than the housing limit allowed. The two students were also underage. The RA had the two students dump the alcohol (including a fifth of Jack Daniels whiskey and a fifth of Brazilian rum) prior to the officers’ arrival. The incident was referred to O.S.C.C.R. and a report was filed.

Friday, Oct. 10

12:31 a.m.
An RA reported a male student vomiting outside of Melvin Hall. Officers responded and spoke to the intoxicated student who was conscious and alert but unable to move steadily. EMS was notified and transported the subject to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. A return escort was provided at 5:32 a.m. The Residence Director (RD) was notified and the student was referred to O.S.C.C.R.

12:34 p.m.
NUPD noticed a male attempting to steal a bicycle on Columbus Avenue at the Burke Lot, which was found to have a missing seat. The suspect ran down Tremont Street in the rear of Roxse Homes and was caught by NUPD units on Shawmut Avenue. An officer requested EMS due to injuries the suspect had sustained during pursuit. EMS transported the male to Boston Medical Center.The suspect will receive court summons.

2:08 p.m.
An associate dean reported a banner previously hanging from the indoor quad of Curry Student Center was missing. A report was filed.

4:39 p.m.
A Northeastern student notified NUPD that her wallet was stolen from Snell Library while left unattended. A report was filed.

Saturday, Oct. 11

1:48 a.m.
A student in West Village A reported her roommate was intoxicated and requested an evaluation. Officers responded and reported that the roommate was conscious but not alert and requested EMS for both students, as well as an RA to gain access to the residence. EMS responded and transported one roommate to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The second roommate was cleared and the RD was notified.

11:08 p.m.
An RA reported the smell of marijuana emanating from a room in West Village A. Officers responded and reported speaking with three Northeastern students. Less than one ounce of the substance was confiscated and the students were referred to O.S.C.C.R. A report was filed.

11:41 p.m.
Officers responded to a fire alarm from the sixth floor stairwell of Columbus Place to find a disorderly person that appeared to have pulled the alarm. An officer reset the system and reported that Boston Fire Department arrived at 11:50 p.m. NUPD requested EMS for the intoxicated, possibly disturbed, subject. EMS transported the male to Boston Medical Center and he will receive summons at a later date. The RD on call was notified and a report was filed.

Sunday, Oct. 12

11:02 p.m.
An RA reported the smell of marijuana emanating from a room in Kennedy Hall, as well as the sound of clicking lighters. Officers responded and spoke to two Northeastern students. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia was confiscated and the students were referred to O.S.C.C.R. A report was filed.

11:55 p.m.
Loud music coming from 39 Cunard St. was reported. Officers responded and spoke with two Northeastern students. Attendees of a party at the address were sent home and a report was filed.

Monday, Oct. 13

2:32 a.m.
Four males who appeared to be stealing signs in Camden Lot near Squashbusters were reported. Officers responded and reported the males fled over the Columbus footbridge. Three Northeastern students and one student not affiliated with the university were apprehended by different officers after they ran in different directions. NUPD also confiscated false IDs from the arrestees. All four subjects were processed and brought to Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) headquarters for holding.
