The Museum of Fine Arts is showing ‘Grave of Fireflies’ on Wednesday, Feb. 11. The animated film is about two children’s fight for survival in World War II Japan, and it will be followed by a panel discussion with authors John W. Dower, Roland Kelts and Frederik L. If the thought of another yoga class evokes traumatic images of pretzel-twisted limbs and a sense of complete ineptitude alongside inexplicably limber yo-fessionals, it’s time to find a new workout. Nia, a meditative dance that combines modern and jazz dance with martial arts, is the perfect solution. OK, it incorporates yoga too, but who cares? Dancing will make it way more fun. The book Radio Silence documents hardcore rock from the late ’70s to the early ’90s through pictures, letters, artwork and other forgotten fanfare from the era. Images from the book will be the artwork in the exhibit Radio Silence/Selected Photos. The editors of the book decided to keep the bash under the radar rather than throw a lot of parties. That whole ‘going green’ thing ‘- it’s happening, and it means more than just bringing canvas bags to the grocery store. Although that helps, eating slow food can have an even bigger impact. Watch ‘One Cow, One Man, One Planet,’ a film about a New Zealand farmer and his sustainable farm, for inspiration. Viewing architecture as a representation of change can be a tricky concept to grasp. After all, buildings pretty much stay the same for years. But watching new buildings that crop up over time that can trace the way a culture evolves. The Department of Art + Design is hosting a lecture by Krzysztof Lenk, a graphic designer from the firm Dynamic Diagrams, which caters to the likes of Microsoft and Harvard University. He is also author of the book Mapping Websites about digital media design, and a professor at the Rhode Island School of Design, where he specializes in information design and typography.
