Crime Log: Nov. 16 – Nov. 29

Crime of the Week: Wednesday, Nov. 18
9:53 p.m.
A Resident Assistant (RA) in Davenport B reported the smell of marijuana coming from a room. NUPD responded and, after investigation, placed a student under arrest at 10:19 p.m. for possession of cocaine and prescription pills. The student, who had prior incidents with the Northeastern University Police Department (NUPD), was transported from Davenport B to police headquarters.

Monday, Nov. 16
12:51 p.m.
The manager of Wollaston’s Market in the Marino Center notified NUPD they were detaining a shoplifter, who was being cooperative. NUPD responded and collected the Northeastern University (NU) student’s information and banned him from both Wollaston’s Markets on campus. A report was filed.

Tuesday, Nov. 17
5:17 a.m.
An NU student reported being blackmailed by a female student in Davenport A. A sexual harassment report was filed.

8:55 a.m.
An NU student reported a subject posted a picture of flames captioned “Burn Your Local Mosque” to the Facebook page of his student group, Islamic Society of Northeastern. The subject was not affiliated with the university.A report was filed.

9:15 a.m.
An associate research scientist reported two laptops were stolen from an unsecured office in Nightingale Hall. A report was filed.

12:12 p.m.
The manager of the Wollaston’s Market in the Marino Center reported detaining a male shoplifter. NUPD responded and collected the information of the juvenile, who was not affiliated with Northeastern.A trespassing warning was issued and a report was filed.

2:58 p.m.
An NU student reported she may have received counterfeit money. A report was filed.

11:17 p.m.
An NU student reported leaving his iPhone 6S unattended in Cabot Cage for approximately one hour. He returned to find it missing. A report was filed.

Wednesday, Nov. 18
10:12 a.m.
A program coordinator reported unauthorized purchases were made on her university American Express Pro card. NUPD responded to her office in Richards Hall and filed a report.

1:56 p.m.
NUPD received a duress alarm from the Wollaston’s Market in the Marino Center. Officers responded and placed a male party in custody. The subject, who was not affiliated with Northeastern, had shoplifted and assaulted two employees in attempts to flee. NUPD transported the male back to headquarters and charged him with one count of shoplifting, two counts of simple assault and one count of disorderly conduct.

4:04 p.m.
NUPD reported approximately 50 people gathered in Centennial Commons for a protest. At 4:47 p.m., NUPD reported the group had mostly dispersed.

4:13 p.m.
An NU student reported unauthorized charges on his credit card. A report was filed.

Thursday, November 19
12:00 p.m.
An NU student reported someone was stealing her mail from 204 Hemenway St. and that a check mailed to her by her grandmother had been cashed. A report was filed.

4:33 p.m.
An NUPD officer reported confiscating a hunting knife from an NU student in Kennedy Hall while responding to a call regarding the odor of marijuana. A report was filed.

7:14 p.m.
An NU student reported her MacBook Air laptop was stolen from the fourth floor of Snell Library while left unattended when she used the bathroom. A report was filed.

9:29 p.m.
NUPD stopped and spoke with two NU students in Carter Parker about the odor of marijuana. Their information was collected and NUPD confiscated a small tie-dye glass smoking pipe before sending subjects on their way.

Friday, Nov. 20
12:37 a.m.
An NU student reported the theft of his unattended hockey bag, which contained gear, from the back area of West Village B by the water pipe. A report was filed.

7:30 p.m.
An NU student reported his bicycle was stolen from the racks outside of International Village (IV) on Nov. 19, despite being secured with a cable lock. A report was filed.

11:24 p.m.
An RA in IV reported a middle-aged male sleeping on one of the couches in the lobby. NUPD responded and located the male, who was not affiliated with Northeastern. He appeared to be intoxicated. EMS was notified and transported the 57-year-old to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

11:25 p.m.
An RA in West Village C reported an NU student was intoxicated and had vomited prior to their encounter. NUPD responded and requested EMS, which transported the student to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The Residence Director (RD) on call was notified.

Saturday, Nov. 21
1:35 a.m.
An RA in Rubenstein Hall called NUPD and stated a resident had approached him and asked someone to check on her roommate. The student had found her roommate vomiting while in bed and stated she had begun screaming about a friend who was brought to the hospital earlier. NUPD responded and requested EMS, which declined transport.

1:56 a.m.
An individual called to report his friend had been drinking and was unsteady on his feet and vomiting on Leon Street in front of Behrakis Hall. NUPD responded and reported the NU student was conscious but not alert and requested EMS, which arrived at 2:10 a.m. and transported the subject to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The RD on duty was notified.

2:37 a.m.
A caller reported loud music coming from the basement of 84 Fenway and the rear alleyway. NUPD responded and found the music was coming from a first floor apartment, which had a window open in the rear. NUPD spoke with the residents, who had not realized the window was open, and they agreed to turn down the music for the night.

3:04 a.m.
The caller from the previous entry reported that after NUPD left the area of 84 Fenway, occupants turned their music back on. NUPD responded and advised the residents to turn the music off.

3:20 a.m.
A caller reported numerous people on Hemenway Street in front of Loftman Hall being loud and disruptive. NUPD responded and sent the group on their way without incident.

11:02 p.m.
NUPD observed a 19-year-old male in the area of Matthews Arena on St. Botolph Street who appeared intoxicated and unable to walk. The male was identified as a Salem State University student. EMS responded and evaluated the subject, who refused treatment and transport. The male then signed a medical waiver and his brother arrived to pick him up and bring him home.

Sunday, Nov. 22
12:29 a.m.
NUPD reported an intoxicated male outside of West Village B and spoke with the Northeastern student. The subject reported he was feeling better after vomiting. EMS was requested for further evaluation and declined to transport. The student signed a medical waiver and headed back to his apartment on Gainsborough Street.

12:35 a.m.
An individual stated his friend was extremely intoxicated. NUPD responded to a residence in IV and requested EMS, which transported the NU student to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The RD on call was notified.

1:14 a.m.
A proctor in Willis Hall reported an NU student was intoxicated. NUPD found that the male was conscious but not alert and requested EMS, which transported the subject to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The RD on call was notified.

1:19 a.m.
An intoxicated student was reported to have locked himself in the bathroom in IV and was unresponsive. NUPD gained entrance to the bathroom and requested EMS for the student and his roommate. EMS arrived, transported one student to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and cleared the other. The RD on call was notified.

3:55 p.m.
An NU student reported she believed the front New York license plate was stolen from her vehicle while parked in the North Lot. NUPD responded and placed the plate into the National Crime Information Center. The student planned to contact her local registry on Monday. A report was filed.

7:14 p.m.
NUPD observed an NU student sitting in a Massachusetts-registered vehicle with what appeared to be two bags of marijuana on his lap. The Boston Police Department (BPD) was advised, but NUPD cleared the subject prior to BPD’s arrival, confiscating slightly more than an ounce of the substance. The student had not been under the influence of drugs. A report was filed.

Monday, Nov. 23
7:51 a.m.
A male was reported shoplifting from the Wollaston’s Market in the Marino Center. NUPD responded and collected the information of the male, who was a previous offender and not affiliated with the university. He was checked for warrants with negative results and searched prior to being arrested at 8:05 a.m. The male then told officers he had swallowed half a gram of heroin prior to their arrival. NUPD transported the subject to Boston Medical Center. The subject was left in the care of hospital staff and will be summonsed.

2:44 p.m.
An NU student reported he left his bike chained in front of Stetson West for two months and noticed on Sunday it was missing. NUPD responded to take a report, but the student was not present. He arrived at 3:08 p.m. A report was filed.

5:37 p.m.
An NU student reported someone was filing false police reports against him. A report was filed and a sergeant was notified due to the subject’s extensive history with NUPD.

6:25 p.m.
An NU staff member reported his bicycle seat and post were stolen from his bike on Saturday while it was located inside Renaissance Park Garage. A report was filed.

6:54 p.m.
An NU student reported someone broke into the basement of 204 Hemenway St. and stole his mountain bicycle between 9:30 p.m. the previous night and 6:45 p.m. the day of report. A report was filed.

8:17 p.m.
An NU student reported fraudulent charges amounting to over $1,200 on her credit card. A report was filed.

Tuesday, Nov. 24
12:34 p.m.
An On The Go employee reported detaining three shoplifters. NUPD responded and spoke with the high school-aged individuals. Their parents were notified and the suspects were escorted out of Curry Student Center and off the property.

7:12 p.m.
An NU student reported his backpack was stolen from Curry Student Center while left unattended. A report was filed.

5:43 p.m.
A general fire alarm sounded in Curry Student Center. NUPD responded and Boston Fire Department (BFD) arrived. The pull station in a second floor stairwell was activated, though no signs of fire were found. The alarm was reset.

7:31 p.m.
A general fire alarm in Curry Student Center sounded from the pull station inside the ballroom. NUPD and BFD responded and found the fire extinguisher in the ballroom had been tampered with. Allied Security reported two juveniles in dark clothing were running from the building as the alarm sounded. NUPD searched the building and found a fire extinguisher in a fourth-floor stairwellwas discharged.A second extinguisher found in room 444 was tampered with but not discharged. A report was filed.

8:21 p.m.
NUPD reported checking on a male who appeared to be passed out in the William E. Carter Playground area. The subject, who was not affiliated with the university, was conscious but intoxicated. NUPD requested EMS, which transported the subject to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Wednesday, Nov. 25
10:54 a.m.
A Technical Operations and Events Manager reported the sanitary napkin machine in the fourthfloor bathroom of the Curry Student Center was destroyed and cut, leaving sharp edges. A report was filed.

Friday, Nov. 27
1:18 a.m.
NUPD stopped a male who appeared to have blood on him in front of the Columbus Parking Garage. The subject, who was not affiliated with Northeastern, was found to have a warrant out of South Boston District Court for shoplifting. EMS was requested, as the male had a puncture wound on his hand and a laceration to the back of his head. NUPD and EMS transported the subject to Boston Medical Center. The subject was then placed under arrest and transported to Transit Police headquarters.

9:28 a.m.
An NU student reported he had met a female through the app Whisper who was trying to extort money from him. The female juvenile suspect, who was not affiliated with the university, was placed under arrest at 10:44 a.m. inside Ruggles Station. NUPD then transported her back to headquarters.
