Sexual assault at Northeastern

TRIGGER WARNING This article or section, or pages it links to, contains information about sexual assault and/or violence which may be triggering to survivors.

Editor’s note: During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we at The Huntington News want to make it known that the Northeastern University community is not isolated from crimes associated with sexual abuse. Below is a list of all incidents of sexual assault, battery and related cases reported to the Northeastern University Police Department (NUPD) since July 2014. The frequency of rapes occurring over the past three months exceeds that of 2014 and 2015. Note, according to analysis conducted by the Justice Department, only 20 percent of sexual assaults go reported, so this list does not and cannot represent the true state of sexual assault and the like at Northeastern. We hope all of our readers take pause to not only reflect on the state of their community but also to realize that there is action to be taken. We at The Huntington News stand with those affected and will continue to report the state of violence, sexual or not, at our university. People in need of support or a safe space to field their concerns can visit the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center website at barcc.org or refer to a list of resources supplied at the end of this article.
