The Northeastern track and field team concluded a busy weekend sending competitors to the Harvard Fast Meet and a relay team to the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

The Harvard Fast Meet hosted by Harvard University was on Friday and the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix was on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center at Roxbury Community College.

The Huskies had a strong showing with 10 athletes meeting New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association’s (NEICAAA) qualifying standards at the Harvard Fast Meet.

The men’s team compiled seven top-four finishes, including two second-place showings.

Graduate student sprinter Damani Wilson nabbed a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.92 seconds.

Sophomore sprinter David Johnson finished fourth in the 400-meter race at 51.11 seconds.

The men’s team found most of its success on the off-track events, especially in the shot put, where five Huskies placed in the top-eight. Redshirt senior thrower Kevin Rosenberg led the charge with a second-place heave of 16.13 meters. Freshman thrower Ryan Kim added a third-place throw of 14.82 meters.

Redshirt senior thrower James Hall threw 17.00 meters in the weight throw, finishing fourth.

The Huskies have shown depth by hitting qualifying marks in events across the board, something that will benefit them when they reach the championship meets at the end February and beginning of March.

Freshman jumper Nick Fofana had an impressive showing in the high jump, leaping 1.99 meters for second place. Fofana added two eighth-place finishes in the pole vault and the 60-meter hurdles.

Freshman jumper Jordan Samuels had a fourth-place finish in the long jump and a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, hitting the New England qualifying standards in both events.

Samuels has been a bright spot for the Huskies in his freshman year, already qualifying for the New England championships in three events.

The women’s team collected four top-five finishes, all in the field events.

Freshman jumper Kelsey Sullivan bounded to a third-place finish in the high jump, with a leap of 1.70 meters.

In the pole vault, senior vaulter Dana Schweiger finished third, clearing 3.3 meters.

Junior thrower Alexandra Rose placed fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 15.14 meters.

Junior thrower Jenna Serunian rounded out the top-five finishes with a fifth-place toss of 12.96 meters in the shot put.

The Huskies are set up well with qualifiers in the field events, but they will need a well-rounded effort throughout their team to be a contender for the New England championship.

The Huskies also sent a relay team of redshirt freshman distance runner Sarah Adler, junior sprinter Camille Gooden, freshman middle distance runner Corinne Myers and sophomore distance runner Kate Johnstone to compete in the distance medley relay at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

In a meet that contained multiple Olympic athletes, the relay team of Huskies finished in sixth place with a NU-program record, 11:50.74.

The Huskies conclude their regular season next weekend at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14.
