Jose “Gus” Castillo hails from Garland, Texas. Born in Dallas in ‘96, Jose is the son of Nery Nolasco and Gustavo Castillo. At the age of 6, Jose enrolled at St. Pius X Catholic School, where he met his lifetime homie Thomas Hess (the road next to the school, Gus Thomasson Rd., was named in order to honor the friendship). When Jose was in middle school, his family left East Dallas and moved to Garland, one time home to Beavis and Butt-Head creator Mike Judge and location of the world famous Hawaiian Falls waterpark.
Jose attended Bishop Lynch High School, graduating in May of 2014. Jose received many accolades during his time at BLHS, including a “Good Work” sticker on a Geometry quiz and an award for best Halloween costume for his Gandhi outfit, despite numerous times explaining that he was suppose to be Julius Caesar. His favorite class in high school was US History, because he got to watch the film Glory starring Matthew Broderick.
Irritated by the sun, Jose left for New England, enrolling at Northeastern University. Jose currently majors in Electrical & Computer Engineering, because he thought the film The Social Network was “pretty neat”. Jose can typically be found at Snell Library, either on a computer or on the fourth floor, sleeping in a cubical. He enjoys writing, science & math, and music. As of today, Jose still doesn’t know what he is going to do with his life.
