This letter is in response to everything I’ve ever read or heard about the current president of the Latin American Student Organization, Nadine Yaver.
Nadine, I’m sorry if you think the world revolves around you, but unfortunately it doesn’t. Every single time I read one of your quotes or letters to the editor or hear about your interactions with others, you always seem to be complaining about something that didn’t go exactly the way you wanted it to.
Let me suggest a different attitude. The people who put together these events with you (the staff of the university and members of other student groups like the Student Government Association and Council for University Programs) work their rear ends off to make sure things go as planned. Then you come along after what sounded like a great event, and all you have to say is what a horrible job everyone else did.
Try being positive for once and analyzing what could be improved upon, then privately offering some friendly constructive criticism to your colleagues. Blasting The Northeastern News about being misquoted or hammering the chair of the Budget Review Committee about her funding techniques is hardly the best way to attract new members to join LASO.
And about things not going your way, take it from someone who knows. Until you get suspended, stripped of your position, your scholarship, your employment and your respect because a guest of your household decided to rat out you and 16 of your friends, things are definitely going your way. That’s what happened to me, and you know what I did? I sucked it up and dealt with it.
