Crime Log: February 24 – March 10

Entry of the week: Sunday, March 2, 1:28 p.m.

An officer reported a woman inside of an NU recycling truck attempting to collect bottles and cans. The officer asked the female to exit the truck but the woman would not. The woman was banned from all Northeastern property.

Monday, Feb. 24

7:09 a.m.

Graffiti was reported on the lower roof of Cushing Hall, and a work order was placed.

Tuesday, Feb. 25

9:06 a.m.

A student reported her MacBook Air was stolen from her room in West Village H between 7:51 a.m. and 8:48 a.m.

10:09 a.m.

An RA reported that while conducting rounds at 11 p.m. on Feb. 23, she noticed a piece of paper half-way under the door of a room in West Village A. The paper said “Eviction” on it, and was a fake notice.

11:05 a.m.

An RD in International Village reported an odor of marijuana coming from one of the rooms. Officers spoke to the resident of the room, who admitted to smoking marijuana, but did not have any in the room.

Wednesday, Feb. 26

6:41 p.m.

A student reported his backpack was stolen from Snell Library while left unattended.

 8:49 p.m.

An RA reported smelling marijuana near one of the rooms in Speare Hall. Officers spoke to four students, and then confiscated less than an ounce of marijuana.

Thursday, Feb. 27

1:51 a.m.

A student swiped into Melvin Hall intoxicated and unsteady on his feet. He was with two friends, who stated they were bringing him to his room for the night. Officers found the student to be conscious but only semi-alert, and requested Emergency Medical Services (EMS). EMS declined to transport the student to a hospital. Officers confiscated two bottles of whiskey from the student’s room, as the bottles were in plain sight.

 4:46 p.m.

 A student reported his backpack and laptop were taken from the first floor of Snell Library while he was sleeping between 1:45 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

 Friday, Feb. 28

 9:04 p.m.

 Officers stopped a student for urinating in public on Symphony Road.

 Saturday, March 1

 12:23 a.m.

 A student reported her friend was intoxicated, and requested assistance. Officers responded to the North Lot and requested EMS. The student was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

 1:50 a.m.

 An RA in International Village reported a resident was intoxicated and unsteady on his feet. Officers requested EMS, who declined to transport the student. Officers confiscated one bottle of Rubinoff vodka, one empty bottle of Smirnoff vodka and two bottles of an unbranded cider.

 10:00 a.m.

 An officer reported locating new graffiti at Marbury Terrace warehouse.

 4:47 p.m.

 An officer stopped and spoke to a man near the Massachusetts Avenue T stop for public urination.

 Sunday, March 2

 1:50 a.m.

 A resident of Burstein Hall reported a large party bus parked in front of the building was blasting music and causing a disturbance.

Monday, March 3

1:02 p.m.

The assistant captain of the men’s hockey team reported that between Jan. 20 and Jan. 24, $260 was stolen from the men’s varsity locker room at Matthews Arena. The money had been collected for a charity.

3:03 p.m.

Officers were requested to respond to Stetson West to meet with a student. The student reported that her backpack was stolen from Speare Hall between Feb. 27 and Feb. 28.

Tuesday, March 4

6:34 p.m.

A student reported the rear wheel of his bike was stolen from the rack outside of Snell Library between 8:30 a.m. and 6:15 p.m.

Wednesday, March 5

12:15 a.m.

An officer reported a fire in a residence within the Hastings wing at the YMCA. The fire’s cause is unknown.

Thursday, March 6

7:26 a.m.

A student center supervisor reported a man pacing and yelling. The man, Mohamed Khalfane, seemed disoriented. Officers spoke to him in front of the bookstore and they found him to have a default warrant on destruction of property out of Roxbury. Khalfane was taken into custody.

9:13 p.m.

An RA in 106 St. Stephen St. reported smelling marijuana in the building. Officers reported speaking to a student who admitted to having smoked earlier that evening.

Friday, March 7

11:57 p.m.

A student contacted police operations to report a white man wearing a black hat had just tried to cut her window screen in West Village E. The student had her window open and her computer was near it, when she heard someone at the window.

Saturday, March 8

1:21 a.m.

An officer stopped a student for urinating behind Columbus Place.

Sunday, March 9

12:40 a.m.

An officer reported graffiti on the doors to the Marbury Terrace warehouse.

4:21 a.m.

A large hole was reported in the wall near the handicapped stall of the men’s bathroom in the basement classroom area of International Village.

11:05 a.m.

The manager of Wollaston’s Market in Marino Center called operations to report a man just left after stealing deli items and Axe body spray. Officers checked the area for the man with no results.

8:59 p.m.

An officer reported fresh graffiti on the side of Cahners Hall.

11:05 p.m.

An RA in Speare Hall reported an odor of marijuana coming from a room in the building. Officers confiscated less than an ounce of marijuana from the residents of the room. Six students were involved.

Monday, March 10

1:03 a.m.

Officers reported graffiti on the side of Rubenstein Hall in the alleyway near Sweeney Field. The graffiti said “die not.”
