Crime Log: Jan. 11 – Jan. 18

Crime of the Week: Monday, Jan. 18

12:47 a.m.

An individual reported to Northeastern University Police Department (NUPD) headquarters that his iPhone was stolen. The student explained that after playing in the snow he could not find his iPhone 5S or the Husky Card inside. A report was filed.

Monday, Jan. 11

12:03 p.m.

Building services reported that someone etched writing into the glass of the Curry Student Center elevator. A report was filed.

2:44 p.m.

A Northeastern University (NU) staff member reported having her university keys stolen from her desk in Holmes Hall. A report was filed.

7:24 p.m.

An NU student reported his Under Armour backpack and Samsung tablet were stolen from the Sacred Space in Ell Hall. A report was filed.

7:28 p.m.

The manager of the Wollaston’s Market in the Marino Center reported a possible telephone scam involving one of the employees. NUPD spoke with the staff member, who lost funds to a telephone scam. A report was filed.

7:53 p.m.

An NU student reported her jacket and keys were stolen from the Sacred Space in Ell Hall. A report was filed.

Tuesday, Jan. 12

2:30 p.m.

An NU student contacted NUPD to report a suspicious call from his brother’s phone number. The unidentified caller requested money from the student, who believed his brother may have been in trouble. NUPD confirmed both of the student’s brothers were safe. A report was filed.

7:28 p.m.

An NU student reported his laptop stolen while left unattended in his office in Ell Hall. A report was filed.

Wednesday, Jan. 13

8:14 a.m.

An NU staff member reported graffiti inside the women’s public restroom in the Marino Center. A report was filed.

2:04 p.m.

An NU staff member reported finding a pocket knife in a Dodge Hall stairwell. NUPD responded and spoke with the staff member. The knife was confiscated and brought back to NUPD headquarters.

2:48 p.m.

An NU student reported to NUPD headquarters to retrieve her wallet, and after completing inventory noticed that $150 was stolen. A report was filed.

3:18 p.m.

An NU staff member reported her wallet was stolen from her unsecured office in Meserve Hall. A report was filed.

4:21 p.m.

An NU student reported that while at an ATM on Massachusetts Avenue, a male approached him and asked him to cash a check. The check turned out to be canceled. A report was filed.

6:45 p.m.

An NU student reported losing his wallet walking between a class in Hurtig Hall and his residence at approximately 5 p.m. He retraced his steps but was unable to locate his property. The student contacted NUPD reporting that the wallet was stolen. A report was filed.

9:17 p.m.

A Resident Assistant (RA) in Stetson West reported the smell of marijuana. NUPD responded and spoke to an NU student, confiscating less than an ounce of the substance. A report was filed.

11:23 p.m.

An NUPD officer reported hearing a male and female having a loud verbal argument outside 716 Columbus Ave. NUPD located the female student crying on Cunard St. She had been arguing with her boyfriend, another NU student, about another girl. The male was leaving the area when police arrived. The female was advised of her rights and a report was filed.

Thursday, Jan. 14

11:28 a.m.

An NU staff member reported receiving a text from the iPhone 4 he lost in September. The text from the current owner stated that he had purchased it from another individual but would be willing to sell it back. A report was filed.

12:55 p.m.

A resident of International Village (IV) reported that someone from Houston made fraudulent purchases on her Bank of China credit card. A report was filed.

3:11 p.m.

An NU student reported her bag containing her MacBook Pro was stolen from Snell Library while left unattended. A report was filed.

3:22 p.m.

An NU student reported receiving a call from a male claiming to be with the FBI and requesting her personal information. A report was filed.

9:51 p.m.

NUPD received five intrusion alarms followed by resets from Blackman Auditorium in Ell Hall.  NUPD responded, finding the door ajar and two males walking around the lobby. The males, both NU students, were taken into custody for breaking and entering at 10:04 p.m. The door was damaged, and NUPD searched the area for additional subjects with no results.

Friday, Jan. 15

7:15 a.m.

NU staff reported damage, including gouges and scrapes, to the loading dock doors of IV. The damages occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 12. A report was filed.

1:29 p.m.

An NU student reported his MacBook Pro stolen from East Village on Thursday, Jan. 14. A report was filed.

4:24 p.m.

An NU student reported leaving his backpack unattended in Rebecca’s Café between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. and discovered it missing upon his return.  He checked with the staff, who did not locate the backpack. It contained a laptop valued at $600. A report was filed.

11:41 p.m.

An anonymous caller reported loud noises coming from 69 Gainsborough St. NUPD responded and reported a large crowd leaving the area. NUPD stood by while the crowd dispersed.

Saturday, Jan. 16

2:58 a.m.

An Uber driver, unaffiliated with NU, reported a student passed out in the back of his vehicle driving near Ruggles and Ward streets. NUPD responded and stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Parker Street and Ruggles Street. The student was conscious but not alert. EMS evaluated the West Village resident and released her to her roommate, by which time she was able to walk on her own. She reported falling asleep inside the car after drinking an unknown amount of alcohol at an unknown off-campus location.

8:39 a.m.

An NU student reported his wallet stolen from the Marino Center the previous night. A report was filed.

6:41 p.m.

An NU student reported having her wallet stolen after leaving it unattended in Stetson East. A report was filed.

7:19 p.m.

An NU student reported encountering a fraudulent situation resulting in euros missing from his account. A report was filed.

Sunday, Jan. 17

1:14 a.m.

Boston Police Department (BPD) requested assistance at a Northeastern student party on Greenwich Street. NUPD responded, at which time all parties left the area. BPD did not take any names but reported approximately 200 to 250 students at the location. A report was filed.

2:12 a.m.

A friend reported an NU student unconscious in IV. NUPD responded and deemed the student unconscious and not alert. EMS arrived to transport the student to Tufts Medical Center. The Residence Director of the building was notified.

3:15 a.m.

A friend reported an NU student intoxicated in the women’s bathroom in the basement of IV. NUPD responded and requested EMS for the student. EMS declined to transport her, and the student signed a medical waiver.

9:09 p.m.

NUPD reported fresh graffiti on trash room doors of Davenport A. A report was filed.
