After an impressive performance against nationally ranked James Madison University over the weekend, the Huskies fell flat in a local matchup against Boston College, failing to score in a 3-0 loss.

While the matchup against BC (7-2-2) didn’t have the playoff implications most games the Huskies (5-4-3, 2-1-2 CAA) are playing at this time of year have, it is surely a game NU would’ve loved to take, especially since the schools haven’t played since 2012, where the Huskies defeated the Eagles 1-0 in an NCAA tournament game

Defeating this Eagles team would’ve been a tall order for the reeling Huskies, who haven’t won since Sept. 24th versus Boston University. While BU has struggled to a 1-9-1 record, the Eagles have flourished, recently knocking off No. 2 Wake Forest 2-1.

The first half was uneventful, as both defenses dominated, holding each team to one shot on net. Both teams had only two corner kick opportunities in the first half as well. The Eagles filled the box score with fouls, getting whistled a whopping nine times in the first half. Meanwhile, the Huskies were squeaky clean and avoided any fouls in the half.

The Eagles broke through in the biggest way imaginable during the second half. In three minutes, the home squad scored three times, owning the pitch from minute 53 to 56.

The first goal came off a header from freshman forward Stefan Sigurdarson, who is turning heads after scoring twice against Wake Forest last Friday. The young scorer was assisted by midfielders Jesus Sahagun and Joe Kellett.

Barely a minute later, BC found the back of the net via a strike from sophomore midfielder Kristofer Konradsson, who earned his second goal of the year to put the Eagles up 2-0. He was assisted by freshman midfielder Mike Suski.

The onslaught continued roughly 90 seconds later, as BC found the solution to NU’s defense yet again. This time Suski finished a pass from Kondradsson, giving the Eagles a decisive three goal lead.

The Huskies had only one other chance to score, with junior forward Dan Munch sending a header just high of the net in the 67th minute.

The Huskies fell to 5-4-3 with the loss, but maintained a playoff contending 2-1-2 conference record. They’ll look to find their rhythm vs Bucknell (2-5-3) at home Tuesday, with a chance to get some momentum against a struggling non-CAA opponent.
