Street Styles features Erica Bush; freshman with style

By Margarita Neplokh

So, what’s new in the fashion world you say? What’s everyone wearing on campus? What’s new in college dressing that incites interests in others around you? The Northeastern News has been watching and scooping out the supremely stylish dressers on campus.

They not only look good, but also know a thing or two about style, grace and confidence. Dressing well in college comes down to two things: style and comfort.

A student was spotted going to eat dinner at Stetson West. She was dressed in an unadorned top, long embroidered skirt and brown high-heeled, t-strap shoes; an eclectic mix of vintage Victorian Lady meets college co-ed. Her style embodies the qualities of confidence and grace. She wears the clothes; the clothes don’t wear her.

Her name is Erica Bush, and she is a freshman biology major who comes from Brooklyn, N.Y.

Northeastern News: What is the first thing that comes to mind style-wise in the morning?

Erica Bush: My mood, depending on how I feel, represents how I’m dressing for the day.

News: How has being a freshman at NU influenced your opinion of style?

Bush: Coming from a bigger town, I feel like here I should represent myself more. People don’t know me yet, and my style represents my image.

News: Do you think your clothes are a mirror image of who you are?

Bush: No, I just want to show that I’m not scared to dress the way I do, and to dress differently. I act like I really am.

News: What are the major influences in your life that influence how you dress?

Bush: Currently, my roommate. She is a theater major; very outgoing, fun-loving and she gives me lots of hints on dressing.

News: Can you share any hints with us?

Bush: Dress for your better qualities. Know what colors go well with your skin tone.

News: Do you think money is an important style add on?

Bush: No, everything I own is under $20; lots of hand-me-downs.

News: Do you think Boston is a good outlet for shopping?

Bush: Yes, lots of vintage and Army Navy stores to find the latest finds in.

News: If you could change anything style-wise about yourself and NU, what would it be?

Bush: On changing something about campus dressing, I would like people to stop focusing on name brands so much
