The attendees of the opening of the Arnold S. Goldstein Simulation Laboratories Suite, on Sept. 19, witnessed a birthing as well as students taking care of a patient with heart palpitations.
Although it was only a simulation, students of the Bouve College of Health Sciences were the first to use the new state-of-the-art simulation laboratories. The laboratories, four in total, are designed to simulate real-life environments such as a doctor’s office, homeless shelter or hospital room.
After leaving his position as Massachusetts’ Public Health Commissioner amid a scandal involving the mishandling of evidence at a state laboratory, John Auerbach has joined Northeastern as the new head of the Institute on Urban Health Research.
Graduate students in the Bouve College of Health Sciences and the Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy were recently selected by the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) to help conduct research on the nation’s health care workforce and provide recommendations to help reduce health care costs.
Bouvé College of Health Sciences Dean Stephen Zoloth announced his resignation in an e-mail to the college’s faculty and staff last Tuesday. “I have always thrived on new challenges, and on reflection, I think that now is a good time to look for new ways to make an impact,” he said in the e-mail. “Therefore, I have told the President and Provost that I have decided to step down as dean.”
