The Northeastern baseball team (19-8, 5-1 CAA) won the men’s semifinal Beanpot game against the Boston College Eagles (13-14, 5-7 Atlantic Division) April 1 at Friedman Diamond. The Huskies shut out the Eagles in a 3-0 game, sending Northeastern to the championship game April 29, where they look to defend their 2024 Beanpot title win at Fenway Park.
In the first inning, starting graduate student left-handed pitcher Max Gitlin had a 1-2-3 inning after striking out the 3rd batter with a punch out. In the bottom of the frame, the offense was hot. Starting with a leadoff walk from junior second baseman Carmelo Musacchia. A regular fly-out to center hit by junior center-outfielder Cam Maldonado was dropped by the BC center fielder, allowing Musacchia to advance to second with Maldonado on first on the error. A perfect bunt down to third base by sophomore right fielder Ryan Gerety allowed everyone to be safe with the bases loaded, no outs.

Junior shortstop Jack Goodman knocked one in to beat out a double play adding one run on for the Huskies, giving them the lead early. Another run was knocked in by redshirt junior left outfielder Harrison Feinberg on an RBI single to left-center field, extending the lead to 2-0. BC then had a chat on the mound with the pitcher with one out, two runs scored for Northeastern.
In the fourth inning, graduate student catcher Gregory Bozzo safely advanced to first on a fielder’s choice. Then, with two outs, Maldonado smoked a double down the left field line as Bozzo reached home for a 3-0 lead.
In the top of the eighth, the Husky defense was strong with a strikeout, throw out double play to end the inning.
The Northeastern pitchers delivered their seventh shut-out of the season, leading the nation in shutouts.
Gitlin had an impressive outing, pitching seven innings with four hits, no runs and no walks. Graduate student right-handed pitcher Cooper McGrath stepped in for the final two innings, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts for his first division-onesave.
Northeastern baseball has only allowed just one run over the course of their last three Beanpot games, and is now hoping to get back-to-back Beanpot championship titles. The Huskies will face Harvard University at Fenway Park for the Beanpot final for a rematch of last season April 29.
Its next series is down in North Carolina, where it will be facing the Campbell University Camels (13-15, 4-2 CAA) for a three game set April 4 at 6 p.m.
