The Astronaut
Tang, a sour orange-flavored drink powder that was popular in the late 90s used to be consumed in space by astronauts – hence the title of this week’s beverage. This shaken concoction of orange juice with a dash of chocolate whipped cream vodka in a glass rimmed with Tang is so good it’s out of this world.
Ingredients:
2 ounces Pinnacle chocolate whipped vodka
4 ounces orange juice
Orange slice for garnish
Tang for the rim
Directions:
Pour some Tang powder onto a paper plate. Wet the rim of a soda glass turn it over and twist it around in the plate of Tang until well-rimmed. Add chocolate whipped vodka and orange juice to a shaker and and shake until blended. Garnish with an orange slice and drink up.
The Volcano
A regular Conor’s patron coined the name for this concoction because the yellow and red of the juices and the orange tinge of the Tang reminded him of lava. To get the right color effect, refrain from mixing and don’t forget the Tang.
Ingredients:
Enough Sprite to fill up a glass
Plenty of ice
Dash of pineapple juice
Dash of cranberry juice
Pineapple for garnish
Strawberry for garnish
Tang for the rim
Directions:
Pour Tang onto a plate. Wet the rim of a soda glass, turn it over and twist it around in the plate of Tang until well-rimmed. Fill this same glass with ice and pour Sprite over the ice. Pour pineapple juice on one side of the glass, and then pour cranberry juice on the other side for a tie-dye effect. Garnish with a pineapple rind and a strawberry and enjoy.
