Funmilayo Muyide, junior pharmacy major
Muyide may have chosen to soak up the beautiful weather instead of studying, but there’s definitely one obligation she didn’t opt out of: looking stylish.
“I’ve always been really interested in fashion,” she said.
Muyide described her style as “kind of boyish,” and said she gravitates towards structured pieces like blazers. She said she shops primarily at thrift stores, H&M and Zara.
And though Muyide loves fashion, she said she isn’t one to obsessively follow trends.
“I pick my clothes just on how I feel every day, and some days are nicer than others,” she said.
Caitlin Mason, senior biology major
As anyone who has spent an afternoon digging through the racks at Goodwill can attest, finding stylish thrifted pieces can take some effort. With her floral print sundress, however, Mason proved the search can be well worth it.
“I do a lot of shopping at Goodwill,” she said. “I like older styles, like ’50s stuff. I like vintage.”
To match her old-time vibe, Mason says she is on the hunt for Mary Jane flats for spring, though she hasn’t found any yet.
As for how she describes her fashion aesthetic in a word, after thinking for a moment, Mason said simply: “Fun.”
Suoemi Koroye, freshman computer and electrical engineering major
Walking through Ryder Hall, Koroye stood out in a sea of students shuffling to class with sweat pants and bed head. Chic and put-together in colored pants and a printed t-shirt, Koroye said she draws fashion inspiration from many sources.
“I just wear whatever looks good,” she said. “But I look at fashion blogs and Lookbook. I’m on [Lookbook] pretty much every day.”
Koroye cultivates her “girly but casual” style at stores like Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and European online shopping site ASOS.com, and she already knows exactly which trends she’ll try this spring.
“I want slip-ons [shoes], high-waist shorts and overall shorts,” she said.
