If you take more than ten minutes to get ready in the morning, debating over the perfect shoes or bag to complete your outfit, then perhaps a competition seeking Northeastern’s best dressed is right for you.
Styleboston, known as New England’s insider lifestyle connection, presents Stylecampus, a competition featuring the most stylish students. Northeastern students will challenge other universities in the Boston area to see which school has the style to survive this seven week fashion competition.
Northeastern fashionistas and fashionistos partaking in the contest will compete against other fashionable students from schools like Emerson College, Boston University, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Tufts University and Boston College.
Before the week is out, Stylecampus will have found Northeastern’s best dressed. They will be scouting for contestants to represent Northeastern – two females and two males – whose style is anything but ordinary.
Harry Koffman, the Executive Online Media Editor and the entire Styleboston is excited about the competition, and said it is the first of its kind.
“We just thought it would be really fun to get students in the area involved with something, it’s going to be pretty cool,” Koffman said.
The top four contestants from Northeastern, will have a profile sent to be featured in the Huntington News and on the styleboston blog, which can be found online at http://blog.styleboston.tv.
The contestants will need the help of fellow Northeastern students to get the votes they need to move on to the finals. Students can get involved by simply voting on social media sites like Facebook and Pinterest. Styleboston will post the four contestants to their official Facebook profile and Pinterest account on Nov. 16 for everyone to decide which student has the fiercest style.
The winner out of those four contestants will be announced on Nov. 17 on the TV segment of Styleboston which airs on WBZ-TV at 11:35 p.m. and on Nov. 18 on the affiliate station WSBK (MyTV38) at 10 a.m. before the credits. If students miss their chance the see which contestant was selected the winner, Styleboston will post the winner to its blog and Facebook profile.
Northeastern is the second stop for Styleboston, so until December the winner will enjoy some time being featured on Styleboston’s social media outlets.
Even though by this time classes will officially be over, it doesn’t mean the competition will be. Students will still need to vote for the contestant chosen to represent Northeastern. Finals week will be held from Dec. 13 through Dec. 18. In that time students will have access to voting through Styleboston’s separate Facebook photo album and Pintrest board.
The winner will be determined through the amount of likes combined from the finalist picture on the Facebook album and Pinterest board.
On Dec. 19, the results will come in, and students will have decided who is crowned as having the best style throughout Boston area schools.
If that isn’t enough, there’s more for whoever takes home the title. The winner of Stylecampus will have the opportunity to be featured on TV. Styleboston is allowing the winner to co-host a segment of its weekend show which will be seen on WBZ-TV and affiliate station WSBK (MyTV38).
So if you’re a student who has great style and always wanted to be on TV – make sure to take some extra time in the closet to find the best outfits for the next few days when you strut to class, as there’s no telling where Styleboston may be on campus.
