It’s a new year, and that can only mean that there is a new fashion standard instituted in everyone’s wardrobe. Last year had its moments of high fashion and fashion no-no’s, but be sure to note the trends that are most definitely out this season before you walk out the door.
The half shaved head
This is a style that was cool in 2012 for about five minutes. I’m sure the first person that did it felt really hardcore and modern… until we saw half of society walking around with half of their hair shaved off. Let me guarantee you, the trend is over. Grow those locks out, girls.
Floral pants
Despite Macklemore’s song “Thrift Shop” reassuring us that wearing our grandparents’ clothes is a cool thing, the floral pants are a little too much of granny’s style for 2013’s liking. This is the year for more tailored looks, pick yourself up a pair of dark red pants instead.
Clothes with holes in them
Your mother will thank me for this one. There is no longer a reason to buy clothing that has factory made holes in them. It looks worn, old, and straight up sloppy. Although there is nothing wrong with a piece of clothing that is borderline vintage, steer away from the grungy t-shirt look and go for something a little more classic and whimsical.
Sneaker heels and wedges
I don’t understand why this was ever a trend in the first place, but it shouldn’t have been. The only people who will notice you wearing these shoes in 2013 are the fashion police. There are much cooler ways to get that funky street style look. Just don’t do it.
The infamous Uggs
This is said every year, and it’s going to be said again – Uggs are out. Yet, everyone still feels the need to pair them with a pair of leggings, sweatpants or even, dare I say, their Friday night outfit. I understand, sometimes I have the urge to wear my slippers out too… but then I remember that I want to have friends. I promise you, there are better options out there that still give you the comfort you need but the look that will call the right kind of attention.
