The Northeastern men’s and women’s track teams traveled to the Gordon Track and Tennis Center in Cambridge on Saturday to compete in the Harvard Challenge. Both squads earned third place finishes and numerous Huskies recorded new personal bests.
The men’s squad won multiple events en route to a team score of 73 points, which was 5.5 points shy of the total put up by first-place Harvard College and just 3.5 points less than Army’s second-place total. Brown University finished fourth, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology finished fifth and Williams College took the sixth spot.
Sophomore Jared Lane won the 200-meter dash for the Huskies in a season-best time of 22.09 seconds. Junior Kaylin Miranda captured first place in the long jump with a mark of 7.21 meters, and junior Jackson MacDonald’s personal best and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) meet qualifying jump of 2.00 meters took the top spot in the high jump. The distance medley relay team also secured seven points for the Huskies with a time of 10:12:21, besting second-place Army by more than 11 seconds.
More scoring highlights for Northeastern came from MacDonald and senior Tejorn Davis, who took the third and fourth spots in the long jump. MacDonald finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 8.42 seconds. Junior Dylan Lucas finished second in the pole vault and qualified for the ECAC meet with a new personal best mark of 4.60 meters. Three Huskies achieved personal bests in the 1000-meter run, including second-place finisher junior Eric Jenkins. Sophomore Stephen Sollowin also ran a personal best time of 4:16:35 in the mile and captured a fourth place finish for Northeastern.
The women’s side earned a third-place finish with a team score of 47 points, led by freshman Camille Gooden’s first-place finish in the 200-meter dash and graduate student Nia Howard’s first-place mark in the long jump. Similar to the men’s competition, Harvard finished first and Army finished second, while Brown took the fourth sport, Williams came in fifth and MIT came in sixth.
Sophomore Jessica Dunnigan qualified for the ECAC competition and took second place in the long jump with a personal best leap of 5.55 meters. The only Husky to compete in the triple jump was junior Olivia Stevens, who came in third with a personal-best mark of 11.18 meters.

Northeastern freshmen came up big in the meet, as Jocelyn Hubbard, who ran a personal-best time of 2:55:33 in the 1000-meter run, finished third and captured four points for the Huskies. Fellow freshman Nicole Genard finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 8.83 seconds and also took the sixth spot in the long jump. Freshman thrower Jenna Serunian achieved personal best marks in both the shot put and weight throw, in which she finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
Rounding out the scoring for the Huskies was sophomore Victoria Alexander, who finished fourth in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes, and junior Chelsea Hudson, who came in sixth place in the 500-meter dash.
