Now that classes have come to an end, students remaining in Boston for the summer have a little more time in their schedules to finally become the expert DIY-ers our Pinterests claim we are. For those days when you need to escape the summer’s heat and do something artistic, here are some great stores for do-it-yourself projects to get your creative fix for fashion.
Sewing and Knitting Classes:
Instead of sitting on the couch all day and watching “Project Runway,” take up a challenge of your own and learn to make a piece of clothing or an accessory. With a handle of resources throughout the Boston area, students interested can easily find the perfect spot to hone their skills.
Gray’s Fabrics & Notions

There’s nothing not to love about Gray’s Fabrics & Notions. With an array of classes, customers can make fun and fashionable items such as zip pouches, bowties, pajama pants, skirts and blouses. For those who love to stitch, there’s even a weekly sewing club. Private lessons $25/hr – sewing machine rental $10/hr.
