The College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) offers a liberal arts education on a global scale. Programs include political science, African American studies, Asian studies, economics, philosophy, religion and languages. The School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs is housed within CSSH and offers multiple graduate degrees as well as one undergraduate major and three minors in addition to supporting the Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy. Michael Dukakis, 1988 democratic presidential nominee is a distinguished professor. Uta G. Poiger is the dean of CSSH, stepping into the position in July of 2013 after serving a year as interim dean.
