Matthews Arena is home to the Northeastern men’s and woman’s hockey teams, as well as the men’s basketball team. It is on the east end of campus and has hosted the Huskies since 1930. Matthews is the original home of the Boston Bruins and was the home of the Boston Celtics from 1946 to 1955. It is the oldest indoor ice hockey arena still being used for hockey, in addition to being the oldest multi-purpose athletic building in the world still in use. The arena also hosts the Wentworth Institute of Technology’s men’s ice hockey team and various high school hockey teams. Northeastern’s annual Springfest concert and graduation ceremonies are also hosted at Matthews.
