International Village (IV) is the newest residence hall at Northeastern University. In addition to housing students, IV has basement classrooms, a small exercise room and a dining hall, as well as a Jamba Juice and Pete’s Coffee accessible from the outside. The building has 19 floors in the west tower, 22 floors in the east tower and 9 floors in the middle north tower. Up to 1200 students can live in IV and it serves as the freshman honors dorm. A 240-quare-foot mural is visible on the ground floor and it houses several Northeastern programs including the Center for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), the Institute on Urban Health Research and Sport in Society.
The building has been awarded for its use of landscape architecture in an urban setting by the Boston Society of Landscape Architects. It also received a LEED Gold certification, an internationally recognized award given for green practices and energy savings. The dining hall inside IV is a 3-Star Certified Green Restaurant, using cage-free eggs, milk without artificial growth hormones and fair trade certified coffees and tea. The dining hall also has vegetarian and vegan stations. IV is located behind Ruggles Station on Tremont Street.
