The Northeastern Institutional Master Plan (IMP) is a 10-year trajectory plan for the university. The IMP requests permission to build 11 new academic, residential and athletic facilities on the Boston campus over the next 10 years, specifically to support research enterprises. In addition to physically extending the university, community members have demanded certain initiatives to benefit locals as new buildings encroach on neighborhoods.

The building will be LEED-certified and the university hopes this research facility with draw top notch faculty and staff to Northeastern. Another project predicts redevelopment of the Columbus Parking Lot hear Ruggles Station.
Northeastern is also launching a number of scholarship opportunities specific to local students, hoping to up enrollment from students in Roxbury, the South End, the Fenway, Mission Hill and Jamaica Plain. Effective fall 2015, the university will offer financial aid covering 100 percent of demonstrating need for students applying from neighborhoods impacted by the IMP.
