The Northeastern baseball team (12-6, 0-0 CAA) swept the Harvard University Crimson (0-13, 0-0 Ivy League) at home March 14 to 16.
The Huskies won the home opener 5-0 March 14.
In the bottom of the second inning, junior infielder Jack Goodman doubled and stole third base before being brought home on a passed ball to put Northeastern up 1-0.
The next two innings were scoreless with the Huskies stealing five bases and notching two hits. Graduate student left-handed pitcher Will Jones struck out four batters, including striking out the side in the top of the fourth inning.
Northeastern extended its lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Redshirt junior outfielder Harrison Feinberg led off the inning with a double to center field. Goodman hit his second double of the day, scoring Feinberg and sending junior outfielder Cam Maldonado to third, 2-0.
A throwing error allowed junior infielder Carmelo Musacchia to reach first and brought in Maldonado to make the score 3-0. Musacchia and Goodman stole second and third respectively, putting two runners in scoring position. Graduate student infielder Alex Lane’s groundout scored Goodman. Finally, Musacchia came in on a balk from Harvard’s sophomore right-handed pitcher Ryan McHugh to earn the final run of the game and inning, 5-0.
In the top of the sixth inning, junior right-handed pitcher Charlie Walker came in to pitch for Jones. Walker struck out two batters in the top of the seventh inning. The Huskies left two batters on base in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Following three consecutive outs in the top of the ninth inning, the Huskies were victorious.
In the second game of the series against the Crimson, the Huskies earned a 6-3 win March 15 afternoon in an intense late game comeback.
Starting right-handed junior pitcher Aiven Cabral started off strong as the game remained scoreless throughout the beginning six innings. He recorded seven strikeouts on the day, walking only three.
The first run of the game came late from Harvard, breaking the stalemate with a solo homer to left field in the top of the seventh. The Crimson tallied on two more in the same frame off a two-RBI single to right, making the game 3-0.
Snapping the Harvard pitchers no-hitter, sophomore center-fielder Ryan Gerety hit a dinger over the left center wall to get the Huskies on the board at 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh. This was Gerety’s first homerun in his career, but his day was not finished yet.
The offense had patience at the plate in the same inning after a single by redshirt freshman catcher Will Fosberg and hit-by-pitch to Lane. Graduate student Gregory Bozzo and Maldonado both walked on pinch hits, allowing Fosberg to score, cutting the debt to just one run.
Senior right-handed pitcher Brett Dunham relieved Cabral, and threw a 1-2-3 top of the eighth inning to retire the Crimson.
The Northeastern offense was ignited after a leadoff double by Musacchia and hit-by-pitch to Feinberg. Both of them got into scoring position with no outs, by executing a quick double steal. Goodman then drew a four pitch walk, setting up Gerety, who was up to bat next.
Gerety demolished his second homer of the game, this time an opposite field grand slam, for the Husky 6-3 lead. This grand slam was Northeastern’s first of the season and first hit with the bases loaded.
Senior right-handed pitcher Jack Beauchesne recorded his third save of the season with a fly out, pop out and ground out, in the ninth. The hot offense late in the game launched the Huskies to their first eighth-inning comeback win of the season with the final score being 6-3.

Northeastern finished off the weekend sweep March 16, winning 8-4.
The Huskies got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning, going up 1-0. Musacchia was hit by a pitch and stole second before being brought home on a single to right field by Gerety.
In the top of the second to fourth innings, graduate student left-handed pitcher Jordan Gottesman got out every batter he faced, striking out four for the Huskies.
Northeastern doubled its lead in the bottom of the fourth inning off a single to left center field from senior utility player Justin Bosland.
Following a fielder’s choice, two walks and a fly out, the bases were loaded for the Huskies in the bottom of the fifth inning. With the third walk of the inning, Musacchia scored, putting his team up 3-0. A ground out by freshman outfielder Carter Bentley left the bases loaded.
Harvard scored its first run of the game in the top of the sixth inning. Senior outfielder Matt Giberti bunted to reach first and advanced to third on a single from senior infielder George Cooper. Giberti was brought home on a fielder’s choice, making the score 3-1.
The Huskies struck back in the bottom of the sixth inning with a two-run home run by Musacchia.
In the top of the seventh inning, junior infielder and right-handed pitcher Gio Colasante singled and stole second before being driven in off an error by Musacchia. A walk from graduate student right-handed pitcher Cooper McGrath brought in another run, 5-3.
Northeastern extended its lead to 6-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Goodman singled, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and stole third to put himself in scoring position. Bozzo grounded out to shortstop to score Goodman.
The Huskies scored two more in the bottom of the eighth. Following a hit-by-pitch Musacchia tripled to make the score 7-3. Feinburg brought him in with a single up the middle, 8-3.
The Crimson put the final run of the game on the board in the top of the ninth inning. Two singles and a ground out put two runners in scoring position. A throwing error by sophomore infielder Chris Walsh allowed Harvard to score, making the game 8-4.
Northeastern finished off its weekend up on a ground out and pop up to end the game in the ninth inning.
The Huskies faced off against the Merrimack College Warriors (5-14-1, 4-2 Metro Atlantic) at Friedman Diamond March 18, taking home the win 10-0.
