Northeastern men’s basketball junior guards Harold Woods and Masai Troutman have entered the NCAA transfer portal, likely marking the end of their time playing for Northeastern.
Woods confirmed with a writer for The Field of 68, a media network focused on college basketball, March 19 that he was planning on entering the portal. Sam Kayser, a recruiting analyst for League Ready, shared on social media March 20 that Troutman told League Ready he was entering the transfer portal as well.
This past season, Woods played 1,033 minutes, in which he scored 379 points; 55 more points than last year. The Hammond, Indiana native had two blocks and 35 steals.
During his freshman and sophomore seasons, he played in a combined 58 games. In his 2022-23 campaign, he averaged 2.5 points per game, or PPG, with a season high of 13 points against Harvard University Nov. 16, 2022. His sophomore year, Woods averaged 10.1 PPG and reached double digits in 18 games. His career high for the season was 25 points against Towson University Feb. 1, 2024.
Plagued with injuries, Troutman only had 315 minutes on the court this season. Despite this, he had 175 points, seven steals and one block.

In his freshman season, he played in 27 games where he averaged 6.3 PPG. His season high in points reached 20 against Stony Brook University Jan. 19, 2023. Troutman played and started in all 32 games during his sophomore season. In these games, he averaged 10 PPG, reaching double digits in 17 games with a season high of 17 points against La Salle University Nov. 11, 2023.
The team was knocked out by Hampton University in the second round of the CAA tournament March 8, marking the third consecutive year that Northeastern did not reach the third round. Despite this early end, the Huskies ended their season record 17-15, an improvement from last year’s 12-20.
