Klotzbier steps down from post

Vice President for Student Affairs Ed Klotzbier will resign from his position at the end of the month, Senior Vice President Philomena Mantella announced in an email to members of Northeastern faculty and staff Monday afternoon. Klotzbier served in his role as vice president for student affairs for eight years and director of university communications for two years prior. He will carry out his tenure as vice president until the end of the month, transitioning to a short-term special assignment until he leaves the university fully later this year, though he said there is not yet a specific timeline.

Dorm plan moving ahead

Northeastern has already cleared several roadblocks in solidifying plans for demolition of the back of the Greater Boston YMCA on Huntington Avenue and construction of the new 17-story, 720-bed dormitory that will be built in its place. While still anticipating several more bumps on the road, Vice President of City Affairs John Tobin says everything is on track for an August 2013 opening.

Huskies run to support vets

Seven Northeastern students joined more than 2,000 runners at Fenway Park early Sunday morning to cross home plate and score a major run for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The second annual Run to Home Base 9K raised an estimated $2.6 million for prominent organizations offering support to veterans and family members as well as community education about the “invisible wounds of war” and research to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD.)

SGA looking for ‘NUideas’

This week, the Student Government Association (SGA) launched a new online program to promote student input and feedback on initiatives around campus. The program, called NUideas, allows students to make and comment on suggestions online for ways to improve student life.
