Huskies struggle to find their groove

It was a rollercoaster week for the Northeastern University (NU) men’s basketball team. The Huskies lost three contests in a five-game stretch, including competing in the Steve Wright Classic on Boston University’s campus. After laboring through two late-game collapses, the team rallied to back-to-back victories before dropping another close game.

Over the last two weeks, the Northeastern men’s hockey team landed two crucial wins over tough opponents, but also lost two one-goal games. On Nov. 18, the Huskies earned a 5-4 win over the No. 19 Providence Friars before falling to the Friars on Nov. 19 with the score flipped. The Huskies did their Black Friday shopping in the third period on Nov. 25 against the No. 11 Minnesota Golden Gophers, scoring four goals in the final frame to win 6-4. In their return to Hockey East play on Tuesday, the Huskies were beaten 2-1 by the No. 4 Boston College (BC) Eagles.

Northeastern University (NU) women’s swimming and diving placed third out of 10 teams at the Frank Elm Invitational meet Nov. 18-20. Hosted by Rutgers University, the three-day meet was a major checkpoint for the Huskies as they move toward their goal of finishing in the top three during NCAA championships.

In one of the most bizarre sequences of events ever seen at Matthews Arena, the Northeastern men’s hockey team skated to an abridged 0-0 tie against the No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a game that ended after two periods due to unplayable ice conditions.The game is officially suspended and will be completed at unknown date later this season. Before the Sunday afternoon stalemate, Notre Dame blew by the Huskies 5-2 on Saturday night.
