You have no idea how disappointed I am with the Northeastern community. Minutes after the New England Patriots shut the door on the Philadelphia Eagles to take home its third title in four years, I watched the Fox 25 coverage of the streets near Kenmore Square and was appalled to discover: nothing.
What a jip. I mean, that was our thing. We were the school that started trouble. When a Boston team went far, the national media started wondering, “How will the Huskies screw this up?” Then along came the Patriots in Jacksonville, and when Rodney Harrison picked off Donovan McNabb for the clincher, I thought “Now my school takes center stage, it’s rioting time!” But, nothing.
I mean, what was everyone doing? Was the premiere of “American Dad” that tempting? Is Bianca de la Garza so sexy that you had to stick around for the entire Fox 25 newscast? (Short answer: Yes, very much so.) Did everyone else just go right to sleep afterward to the sound of Joe Buck’s soothing, egomaniacal voice?
I’m sorry, but Sunday night was just a selfish display by the Northeastern community.
