Kelly Larson graduated this year from Magnificat High School in Ohio. The soon-to-be freshman was a member of the National Honor Society, ran for her school track team and is also a gymnast, besides having a 4.2 high school GPA and SAT scores above 1100. She was accepted to study pharmacy at her first choice university: Northeastern.
Larson is not the only well-rounded student that upperclassmen will encounter in September. The class of 2009 is made up of honor roll students, athletes and community leaders, all ready for college life.
The incoming class has a mean SAT score of 1212, which is an 11 point increase from last year’s class, and is made up of students who are likely to contribute to the Northeastern community, said Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Philomena Mantella.
“We are very lucky again to have such a strong class,” Mantella said.
A preliminary estimate shows there is a 42 percent acceptance rate in this year’s admissions. The estimate also shows 34 percent of enrolled students are from Massachusetts, while 21 percent come from other New England states. Thirty-one percent come from Mid-Atlantic states, and 4
