Students who have a sweetie on their arm may be a little warmer this winter when it comes to snuggling under blankets. When the walls of the residence hall start to close in and the need for privacy and romance is at a high, it’s time to get away.
Within reach Colonnade Hotel Boston, Mass. The Colonnade Hotel offers couples a temporary home away from home. Each of the 285 rooms are decorated in a contemporary European style, said Crystal Macaulay, a representative with the Colonnade Hotel.
The season specials only sweeten the deal. From Nov. 26 to March 25, the Colonnade is running a special called “Frosty Fridays.”
“[Frosty Fridays] is a two-night package. On Friday night you pay the temperature based on a 5 p.m. reading from the National Weather Service – if it’s 19 degrees, you pay $19,” Macaulay said. “The Saturday night rate is $229, which is reduced [from the regular cost].”
The package also includes a double occupancy room and the choice of two tickets for either the Old Time Trolley Tour or admission for two to the Frog Pond ice skating rink.
“You also get hot chocolate for two at Brasserie Jo and complimentary overnight parking,” Macaulay said.
Brasserie Jo is the French bistro on the first floor of the hotel. It serves French bar food and breakfast, and it’s open until 2 a.m., Macaulay said. “[The Colonnade is good for college students because] it’s not like a Ritz, but it’s not uncomfortable,” Macaulay said. “They have the European tradition, class but comfortable. Many of their staff members have all been awarded for their level of service.”
