Ron Everhart may have coached his last game on Huntington Avenue.
The men’s basketball coach was scheduled to interview Tuesday in New Orleans for the vacant Tulane University head coaching job, according to a report by The New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Everhart, an assistant for the Green Wave for six years, is believed to be the final candidate to interview for the top spot. Tulane Athletic Director Rick Dickson met with University of Maryland senior associate head coach Dave Dickerson and former Georgetown coach Craig Esherick Monday. Louisiana State University associate head coach Butch Pierre met with Dickson Saturday, according to the report.
Everhart just completed his most successful season at NU, winning 21 games and earning America East Coach of the Year honors, while leading the Huskies to the America East championship game. NU lost 80-67.
In his four years in charge of the Huskies, Everhart has compiled an overall record of 63-57 and turned the Northeastern basketball program from a perennial bottom dweller to one of the elite teams of the America East.
Everhart could not be reached for comment yesterday.
