Faculty present nanotechnology plans Faculty members gathered Tuesday at the Raytheon Amphitheater to present Northeastern University’s research plan in the field of nanotechnology. The presentation opened with Provost Ahmed Abdelal explaining collaboration as the major aspect of the university’s plan. “We are very big on collaborating. We are very serious about establishing collaboration with other research institutions. We plan to work with industry in the region as well as nationally,” Abdelal said. Vice Provost for Research Srinivas Sridhar spoke about some of the technology being used at some of the new research facilities. Scanning probe microscopes, Sridhar said, are being used to view nano-particles as part of research projects at the new High-rate Nanomaufacturing Center. The event concluded with a cocktail reception and dinner.
Alumnus speaks on D.C. co-op experience Northeastern alumnus David Adler spoke Monday about his career in the U.S. Department of Commerce and his experiences as a co-op student in Washington, D.C. Held in Dodge Hall, the lecture was part of the College of Arts and Sciences’ (CAS) Alumni Lecture Series. Adler talked about his 30 years of government service which evolved from a co-op at the federal Office of Education to his current position in computer systems security for the Department of Commerce. “Co-op helped me in getting into Washington and getting me involved in working for a federal agency,”
