Swimming places 2d at Husky Invitational/b> The Northeastern swim team placed second this weekend at the Husky Invitational hosted by the University of Connecticut. The UConn Huskies took first with a score of 610, while NU scored 338.50. Freshman Kara Lane won the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.46) and came in second in the 100-yard butterfly (59.58). Senior co-captain Emily Rochefort placed second in the 100-yard breast (1:09.01). Their next meet is Saturday Oct. 30 when they host Boston University.
AE names freshman ROW Volleyball freshman outside hitter Kira Batura has been named the America East Rookie of the Week this week. Batura, who receives the honor for the third time this season, recorded two double-doubles (kills/digs) in last week’s two contests. For the season Batura has nine double-doubles and has been an important part of the Huskies’ success this year.
Head of the Charles begins this weekend The Northeastern men and women’s crew teams will compete in America’s Fall Rowing Festival, the Head of the Charles Regatta this weekend Oct. 23-24. The 40th Regatta will begin at 11:25 a.m. on Saturday and 7:35 a.m. on Sunday.
Field hockey’s Creatini sets new career mark Field hockey senior forward Mari Creatini became the school’s all-time leading scorer in last week’s 10-0 win over the University of Vermont. Her one goal gave her 154 points for her career, eclipsing the 153 mark set by Keri Bettenhauser who played for Northeastern from 1994-97.
AE names Nixon POW Senior forward Liane Dixon has been named America East field hockey Player of the Week after scoring 16 combined points against the University of Vermont and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Dixon pitched in an amazing 10-point performance in the Huskies 7-0 win over UMBC. Her four assists in the game tied the NU single-game record.
