In the company of the nation’s elite, the Northeastern women’s track team was represented by three relay teams at the Penn Relays on April 28, held in Philadelphia.
The best showing of the afternoon for the Huskies was in the 4×400-meter relay where NU placed fifth in heat six, with a time of 3:46.33. Teams from across the country were present, including the top team in the event, Auburn University (3:40.13), second place Texas Tech (3:40.91) and Stanford University (3:40.92).
The Huskies, who were disqualified in the 4×100-meter relay for running out of the zone had one other finish in the distance medley, where they placed 19th.
At 12:31.06, NU fell behind a host of schools including first-place Yale University (11:46.10), number two Penn State (11:52.80) and third-place Columbia University (11:54.74).
The women’s team was also in action on April 23 at the Solomon Track for the Solomon Husky Invitational.
Host NU was led by five first-place performances, including Shanae Henry (100 meter, 12.65), Alison Warren (200 meter, 26.43), Tina Ibraheem (triple jump, 35-01.25), Patricia Harrison (discuss, 136-03) and the 4×100-meter relay team of Jordine Kimbrel, Henry, Tramaine Shaw and Ahndraea Allen (48.54).
The men’s team was victorious in the 4×100-meter relay as well, while also garnering wins from Mike Couch (pole vault, 15-feet) and Isaiah Grigg (long jump, 21-feet-10).
