Fire in Curry Student Center
Two fire engines responded around 7:30 p.m. last night to an alarm in the Curry Student Center, which was triggered when a refrigerator compressor caught fire in the basement kitchen, a Boston Fire Department chief on site said. The building was evacuated briefly and the fire department declared it safe to re-enter within a half hour.

Homecoming talent show tonight
There will be a Homecoming talent show in Blackman Auditorium tonight from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. A list of participants can be found on the event’s Facebook Page, and students will compete for cash prizes and a portion of proceeds will go to local charity. Tickets are available for $5 on myNEU.
Self-defense class for women living off-campus
Off Campus Student Services will host a self-defense training workshop for female students living off-campus in Dance Studio B in Curry Student Center from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday. Students must sign up beforehand here.
