A man was arrested outside Willis Hall Tuesday after fleeing the scene of an attempted robbery at Clemente Park in the Fens, according to the Boston Police Department (BPD).
John Lewis, 18, of Roxbury was arrested on charges of armed assault with intent to rob and was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court Wednesday morning. Lewis has no affiliation to Northeastern University.
The incident began around 1 p.m. when between six and eight young men approached a group of women in the Fens and asked if they had any marijuana. When the women responded “No”, the men demanded they empty their pockets. A bystander witnessed the attempted robbery and called police, according to BPD Officer David Estrada.
Northeastern University Division of Public Safety (NUPD) officers spotted Lewis between Willis Hall and West Village G and apprehended him until BPD arrived on the scene to make the arrest.
