Correction: BPD officers have declined to comment on whether or not the victim was an NU student in interviews with The News.
Update: As of 11 a.m. Friday police have not recovered a weapon and do not have a suspect in custody, BPD officials said. It has not been determined whether or not the victim was a Northeastern University student.
A 21-year-old man was shot and killed on Mission Hill late Thursday afternoon, Boston Police Department (BPD) officials said. BPD had not recovered a weapon or taken a suspect into custody as of 9 p.m.
Police have not released the victim’s name, identifying him only as a black male.
Officers were called to 48 Horadan Way at 4:13 p.m. where they found the victim suffering from life-threatening wounds. The victim was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to a police statement.
The BPD homicide unit was called to the scene and is actively investigating the shooting. Police ask anyone with information on the case to contact the Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
