iPod Ambush

By Annie Henderson, News Staff

As part of an occasional series, The News ambushed unsuspecting students and demanded they justify the songs that played when their iPods were put on shuffle, however embarrassing.

Here are the results.

Nicole Piscopio, middler, international affairs major

“Rhythm of Love” by the Plain White T’s
“This song reminds me of my three-year long relationship. ”

“Starstruck” by Lady Gaga
“They used to play this when I worked at Victoria’s Secret. I would wait for it to come on because it put me in a good mood – it’s so catchy! I didn’t even know who sang it at the time.”

“The Con” by Tegan and Sara
“I love this song. It’s off my favorite CD [The Con].”

“Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
“There’s this really cute YouTube video of a dad and daughter singing this song. Me and my roommate used to sing it and imitate the little girl.”

“A Day in the Life” by The Beatles
“I’m obsessed with The Beatles. I have almost every CD of theirs. This song has always been one of my favorites.”

“They have an incredible sound. They’re an older rock band that took some of the first steps into electronica.”

“E Lucevan Le Stelle” by East Village Opera Company
“This group is famous for making rock versions of classical music. They do a great job of staying true to the classical roots of the songs but also appealing to modern audiences.”

“Ballad of a Teenage Queen” by Johnny Cash
“This one doesn’t need much explanation. I mean, it’s Johnny Cash. This is a brilliant song.”

“Knockin” remix by Travis Barker
