Teams of Northeastern and Boston University police followed through on “Operation Alcohol Interdiction” Sept. 9 by watching entrances to residence halls, liquor stores and surrounding areas. Throughout the night, about two dozen students were stopped with beer, bottles of rum and vodka and other alcoholic drinks which they had purchased with fake IDs or had 21-year-old students or strangers purchase for them. Among the offenders and offenses were:
– Fifteen underage Northeastern students who will be reported to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR) for possession of alcohol in the streets.
– A 21-year-old male and 22-year-old female student were criminally charged for purchasing alcohol for underage students.
– Seven underage students from other colleges in Boston were stopped and found to be in the possession of alcohol or illegal substances.
– Three people, aged 22, 25, and 40, will be criminally charged for purchasing alcohol for minors.
– Four students were taken to the hospital for alcohol poisoning, among which was a 22-year-old female student, an 18-year-old female student and an 18-year-old male student who was found sitting in vomit at 4 a.m. on Columbus Avenue. They will be reported to OSCCR.
– A loud party at 17 Symphony Road was hosted by a 20-year-old student who was serving vodka punch. The student, along with several other 17, 18 and 19-year -old students, were all reported to OSCCR and the 20-year-old will be criminally charged with distribution of alcohol to minors.
