Boston Police arrested a Northeastern student Sunday after responding to a call that someone was throwing objects from the roof of a Hemenway Street building.
Police arrived at 114 Hemenway St. around 6:02 a.m. and saw broken beer bottles, broken dishes, a window fan, seat cushions and a beer ball on the ground, according to a Boston Police Department (BPD) report released Monday. BPD officers said they noticed a nearby car appeared to be damaged by a thrown object.
Officers then saw the 20-year-old student, unaware of their presence, trying to push a microwave out of a third-story window. A witness identified the student as the person who had thrown the other objects.
Officers said in the report that when they spoke to the student, he had glassy eyes, slurred speech and impaired balance. A roommate confirmed that the items strewn on the ground were items from their apartment.
The student was charged with willful and malicious destruction of property and disturbing the peace.
The arrested student and Northeastern University Division of Public Safety (NUPD) did not return calls for comment from The News.
