A man was found dead last night in an apartment at 1049 Tremont St., across from International Village (INV), according to reports from Boston Police Department (BPD).
Boston Police Department (BPD) officers responded to a call regarding an assault victim at 1049 Tremont St., near International Village, at about 9:30 p.m yesterday, BPD said in a news release. Northeastern officials said no one involved in crime had an affiliation with the university.
Officers found the victim fatally wounded inside a unit in the building. BPD detectives are investigating the case.
A transcript of police radio transmissions indicates a baseball bat was used, but BPD has declined to confirm that fact. Officials confirmed he was “suffering from an unknown trauma and pronounced [dead] at the scene.”
MyFoxBoston.com reports officers closed a sidewalk in front of a Northeastern University dorm on Coventry Street, where there was a visible trail of blood. At 11 a.m. today, officers could be seen examining a wet sidewalk outside the 10 Coventry Apartments, around the corner from the 1049 Tremont St. building.
BPD officials told The News that the blood on Coventry is unrelated to the Tremont street death.
Renata Nyul, director of communications for the university, said the death was unrelated to the university.
“Other than the close proximity of the location, there is absolutely no affiliation between the incident and Northeastern,” Nyul said in a statement.
