Snell Opens All Floors 24/7

All floors of Snell Library are now open 24 hours a day, seven days a week after much student demand, library officials said. The change began July 5 and was built on the success of keeping the first floor open at all times.

“We want to give students what they need to succeed in their academic careers – and of course we are delighted that students want 24-hour access to the Snell Library building, which complements our suite of online library research tools and resources,” Wil Wakeling, dean of libraries, said in a statement.

Students said they agreed the change was a positive one, and would improve their late-night studying.
“I think it’s really great that [Snell Library] is open 24 hours now, because I don’t have to listen to people Skype [on the first floor] at 2 a.m. when I’m trying to pull an all nighter,” said Tasha Manesis, a middler biochemistry major.

The library is only open to students and faculty after hours, for security purposes.

Physics Lecture Next Week
Victor Kagalovsky from the Negev Academic College of Engineering in Beer-Sheva, Israel will present a lecture on a modified Chalker-Coddington network model July 29, according to the campus calendar. The new model describes the interplay of backscattering and the bending action of a weak magnetic field.
