While patrolling near the Fenway Thursday, Northeastern University Department of Public Safety (NUPD) officers detained a man in connection to a shooting in the area.
An officer was on bike patrol around 7 p.m., when he heard gunshots near Fenway Park, said Jim Ferrier, associate director of public safety. As the officer approached, he saw a man running away from the noise and radioed a description of the man as well as his direction.
The officer found a 23-year-old male, whose name has not been released because no charges were filed against him, on a basketball court with a non-fatal gunshot wound on his leg.
Another NUPD officer saw the suspect running across Huntington Avenue and pursued him. The officers detained the suspect, Sherif Addi Adan, 23, of Boston, where Boston Police Department (BPD) officers took over the case. According to an article in yesterday’s Boston Globe, a revolver was found in a backpack with 42 additional rounds.
Adan is currently being held on $200,000 bail after pleading not guilty to charges of armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, according to the Globe article.
