Curry Student Center and Ell Hall were evacuated at around 3:45 p.m. Thursday when a smoke detector was activated in Ell Hall.
The Boston Fire Department (BFD) responded to the scene minutes later but found no fire, said Steve McDonald, a spokesman for the department.
“We were there pretty quickly and we left pretty quickly because there was no fire,” McDonald said.
Shortly after firefighters arrived, they declared the buildings safe for reentry and students and staff were allowed back in.
Earlier this semester, on March 14, BFD responded to a false alarm in West Village B.
