The News says goodbye to one of its own

Last week, The News lost a member of our family. Naman Shah, a member of the class of 2014, died Oct. 5 of multiple organ failure. Shah, originally from Milford, was pursuing a degree in finance, marketing and entrepreneurship in the D’Amore-McKim School of Business.

For two semesters, Naman was elected to lead The News as our advertising manager. In that position, he was in charge of soliciting and selling advertisements to local businesses and on-campus departments and organizations. At a newspaper like the Huntington News, for which advertising is the sole source of revenue, the advertising manager has a great deal of responsibility and Naman always rose to the challenge.

Aside from The News, Naman was involved with UTSAV, a community of students from South Asia, and received Dean’s List honors in each of his semesters at Northeastern. Naman traveled to the Dominican Republic with the university’s Social Enterprise Institute and worked to help impoverished families gain access to credit as a way to lift them out of poverty. He was also an Eagle Scout and actively supported the Relay for Life for more than a decade.

Naman leaves his father Shreyaunsh, mother Varsha, brother Nirav, sister Neelam and many others.

The News would like to offer its condolences to the Shah family and wish them comfort during an undoubtedly trying time. Naman left his mark on this paper and on this university and he will be missed.
