Entry of the Week: Monday, Oct. 15, 7:46 p.m.
Someone reported that his niece, a former student, forged his name on student loan applications and that the American Student Assistance Program was trying to collect $28,035.29 by garnishing his wages.
Monday, Oct. 15
10:10 a.m.
A resident assistant (RA) reported that it appeared someone took a lighter and burned parts of the ceiling of the elevator in 337 Huntington Ave. A responding officer confirmed the RA’s findings and reported that the markings, which were in the shape of a smiley face, should come off with soap and water. The officer filed a work order.
12:17 p.m.
A faculty member reported that he received disturbing emails from a student who is upset with a class. The student visited University Health and Counseling Services for counseling and a dean’s office is in the process of withdrawing the student.
12:31 p.m.
An officer stopped a man with no university affiliation who was walking a bike with one wheel down Columbus Avenue. Through conversation, the officer determined that the bike may have been stolen. The bike was brought back to Northeastern University Division of Public Safety (NUPD) headquarters, until ownership could be established. The man said he found the bike but then said he bought it for $24.
Tuesday, Oct. 16
11:14 a.m.
An officer reported that there was graffiti on the wall and slashes in the couches of the second floor of the Curry Student Center (CSC).
2:50 p.m.
A student in West Village B reported that her former roommate, also a student, threatened her.
2:57 p.m.
A bookstore manager reported that one of his employees said there was a shoplifter in the store. A responding officer reported that two males had entered the bookstore and stolen two jackets and a knit hat. The knit hat was later recovered. The suspect who stole the jackets returned to CSC a short time later and was stopped. The 17-year-old was given a trespass ban for all university property.
8:11 p.m.
A student reported that he secured his bicycle to a staircase on the side of the Forsyth Building at 6 p.m. When he returned two hours later, the bicycle was missing.
Wednesday, Oct. 17
8:47 a.m.
An officer reported that a student impersonated an RA more than once to gain access to a females’ rooms in International Village. The student will be reported to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR).
8:51 a.m.
An officer reported that four peepholes had been either destroyed or stolen from rooms in International Village.
3:04 p.m.
A bookstore manager reported that while checking video surveillance cameras in the store, he noticed three males stealing from the bookstore at 6:53 p.m. the previous evening. The manager reported that one of the suspects stole two jackets.
3:16 p.m.
A student reported that his unattended steel box containing a Sony memory stick and ear plugs was stolen from a table on the second floor of Snell Library on Oct. 15.
Thursday, Oct. 18
9:48 a.m.
A student reported that she left her wallet by a napkin dispenser at the Dunkin’ Donuts in Shillman Hall, and when she returned, it was gone.
10:14 a.m.
A staff member reported that she left her keys on her office desk on Oct. 10, and when she returned the next morning, the keys were gone.
1 p.m.
A contract employee reported that his iPad was stolen from a room in Mugar Hall, where he left it unattended for 15 minutes.
2:35 p.m.
Two female students approached an officer and reported that a man had attempted to gain access to one of their cars, which was parked on Camden Street. The Boston Police Department (BPD) responded to another call in the area and saw a male fitting the description on Columbus Avenue. BPD stopped the man, who has no university affiliation, and he was identified by the students. The man was arrested on two outstanding warrants.
Friday, Oct. 19
9:15 a.m.
The Residence Director (RD) in Davenport A reported that several exit signs had been torn down. A responding officer received information that the signs might be in a specific room. The officer spoke with the residents of the room and confiscated several exit signs, a police barricade, several bottles of alcohol and a small amount of marijuana. The students will be reported to OSCCR.
2:46 p.m.
A Chartwell’s employee reported that a fellow employee had been threatening her. An NUPD detective spoke with the Chartwell’s manager who was aware of the situation and said that it was being handled by Chartwell’s management.
3:18 p.m.
An officer spoke with three students in Davenport A. The officer confiscated a small amount of marijuana, some drug paraphernalia and two large bottles of alcohol. The students will be reported to OSCCR.
5:14 p.m.
A student reported that his $200 mountain bike was taken from in front of 780 Columbus Ave. He reported that he had secured the bike to a stop sign post and that someone must have lifted the bike over the post.
11:16 p.m.
An officer stopped two students, ages 19 and 23, who were attempting to enter Davenport B. The officer reported that the underage student was in possession of alcohol. Officers confiscated 13 bottles of hard liquor. The students will be reported to OSCCR.
Saturday, Oct. 20
12:15 a.m.
The RA on duty at 10 Coventry St. reported that a man was being carried into a room. Responding officers reported speaking to the 19-year-old student, who was intoxicated and not alert. Boston EMS transported the student to Tufts Medical Center. The RD on call was notified. The student will be reported to OSCCR.
4:54 a.m.
A student in Speare Hall reported that her 19-year-old roommate was on the floor and throwing up. Responding officers reported that the student was intoxicated and conscious, but not alert. Boston EMS transported the student to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The RD on call was notified. The student will be reported to OSCCR.
4:39 p.m.
A student reported that she received harassing text messages from an unknown phone number. She felt uncomfortable due to the sexual content of the messages.
Sunday, Oct. 21
12:11 a.m.
An RA in Speare Hall reported that there was a male student in the stairwell of Speare Hall who was possibly intoxicated and in need of assistance. A responding officer reported that an 18-year-old student was intoxicated. Boston EMS transported the student to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The RD was notified. The student will be reported to OSCCR.
12:15 a.m.
An RA reported that two males were urinating on and damaging a sign in front of West Village F. The males were last seen heading towards Snell Library. Responding officers reported that the sign was knocked down but not damaged.
12:20 a.m.
An RA in Stetson East reported that a female was passed out in the first floor women’s bathroom. A responding officer reported that the 18-year-old student was responsive but not alert. Boston EMS transported the student to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The RD on call was notified. The student will be reported to OSCCR.
1:32 a.m.
An officer reported that a large fight had occurred in front of Our House East. BPD was notified. Officers reported that the group that had been fighting fled the area when officers arrived. Officers spoke with a student who was acting disorderly after the fight and sent him on his way.
2:27 a.m.
BPD reported responding to an assault in progress in front of 316 Huntington Ave. Responding NUPD officers reported that there was a dispute between a cab driver and a student. The student had been crossing the street when the cab driver blew the horn. The student kicked the cab and broke a mirror off. The student agreed to pay restitution to the cab driver. BPD assumed jurisdiction.
5:05 a.m.
An RA reported that there was an odor of marijuana coming from a room in Speare Hall. Responding officers reported no smell of marijuana in the area, but did hear loud music in two rooms. Officers spoke with the residents, who agreed to turn the music down for the night.
Monday, Oct. 22
10:27 a.m.
A manager of the Wollaston’s Market in the Marino Center reported that he detained a shoplifter. A responding officer found that the shoplifter, a student, had one prior on-campus violation. The student was banned from both Wollaston’s Markets and will be reported to OSCCR.
