Although it may seem like a small malfunction, a Google Maps hiccup has remained for days unchanged. The primary issue relates to a problem with the Google Maps search tab. When you search “Northeastern University,” the first hit sometimes suggests “Northeastern University, Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA.” If it isn’t bad enough that the first hit for the address on the website is incorrect for Northeastern, what makes it worse is that the address which shows up is that of the dreaded rivals, Boston University. The remaining five addresses on the search tab properly identify Northeastern University, with the locations of Huntington Avenue and Matthews Arena showing up. The mix-ups vary, with some searches for “Northeastern University” showing the proper location in Boston, but labeling the campus as “Boston University.” According to the Google Maps listing, the address for Northeastern University on Commonwealth Avenue was posted by a website called parkwhiz.com. The website says it helps customers find locations and various rates of parking locations all around Boston.
