Three years ago Chris Emanuele set the Northeastern all-time career hits mark at 227 hits. Six days ago Mike Tamsin tied the record after erupting for three hits in five at bats, including a home run in a win against Hofstra. The next day, in the first inning, Tamsin slapped a single into center field to break the record with hit 228. That accomplishment has earned Tamsin this week’s Huntington News Player of the Week honors. ‘ ‘
‘It was awesome, I finally got it over with, because to tell you the truth I was nervous going into that at bat,’ Tamsin said. ‘For some reason stepping into the box I knew I was tied with the record because my buddy [senior pitcher/co-captain] Jeff Thomson had told me I tied it the last game. So before then I didn’t know where I was. So I wasn’t worried about it. But I dug into the box, got a good pitch to hit and broke the record.’
‘ This year Tamsin said he hopes to help lead the team back to the conference tournament. He said the team has the talent to do so, though it will take consistent play from everyone.
Tamsin is a senior mechanical engineering major. He said he is hoping to be drafted, but is glad to have a good degree to fall back on. He has had contact with scouts from different teams he said. In the past Tamsin has co-oped at General Electric in their aviation department and he said he hopes to work with defense systems in the future.
