Popcorn, gummy bears, too much chocolate and a stomach ache later. Most movie food leaves watchers with indigestion and regret, but next week, give up all that nasty movie food in favor of tasty dishes from Boston’s Clover food truck, which is offering healthy dinner and a movie for just $10.

In April, an article was published by USA Today featuring many small savvy businesses in the Boston area, and Clover Food Lab was one of them. They described Clover’s food as “local, organic, vegetarian healthy stuff made from scratch everyday.”  They also raved about how efficient Clover is, stating that the food is always served in less than four minutes.

Next Wednesday, Sept. 18, Clover will host its third movie night at Dewey Square on the corner of Summer Street and Atlantic Avenue in downtown Boston. From 8-10:30 p.m., Clover Food Lab will project “The Sandlot” on the side of the food truck.

Just a few years ago, the company started out small and sold their food out of one truck on the MIT campus. Since then it has expanded, and there are now 11 different food truck stops around Boston and the greater Boston area. Not to mention, they have also opened five restaurants around Boston, Cambridge and Burlington. The Clover food truck is a popular choice for many hungry college students, employees from local businesses and residents of Boston.

The truck is known for its simplicity, efficiency, clean food and the “Chickpea Fritter,” one of Clover’s most popular dishes. The fritter is a pita sandwich with hummus, cucumbers, tomatoes, tahini sauce and fried chickpeas.

During summer and early fall, Clover hosts a series of movie events to get friends and family out and about in the city. The “Back to the Future” movie night it hosted last summer sold out, and customers got really into it.

Lucia Jazayeri, the communications manager for Clover, spoke briefly about last year’s movie event and its success.

“Last year, a customer dressed up as Marty McFly from ‘Back to the Future.’ [It was] pretty funny,” Jazayeri said. “[This is] a fun thing to do with a big group of people. It is fun to be outside before the winter comes, experimenting with food.”

The most recent movie event this summer, “Ghostbusters,” was also a huge success and a total of 120 people attended. Once again, a few customers really got into it and dressed up like the Ghostbusters.

The Clover Food Lab makes picnic meals for everyone who pre-registers. It is recommended that you sign up online for $10. Your ticket gets you your choice of Clover sandwich, a side and a drink. When you arrive, your meal is delivered to your picnic blanket.

At past movie events, the Clover Food Lab has experimented with homemade sodas, different kinds of popcorn, and has even invited Toscanini’s Ice Cream to hand out samples at the event.
